CHILDREN OF ALCOHOLICS WEEK 2015 (8-14th OF FEBRUARY 2015)

Between 8th and 14th of February, Active – Sobriety, Friendship and Peace and its member organizations are going to mark the Children of Alcoholics week.

In Europe, there are 9 million children of alcoholics – children and young people living in families where one or both of their parents are addicted to alcohol. Very often, these children and young people take up grown up roles in their lives way too early, they live in poverty or feel excluded in their environments.

We use this week to raise the awareness about their needs and realities and, through a series of simple and creative activities, to encourage positive action by the communities, decision makers, by all of us.

Throughout the week, Active and its members will be involved in several activities:

- Use any creative method to show the phrase „9 million“. It can be a poster, photo, graphics etc. They will play with letters and numbers as well. We would like to gather all the contributions and make a big poster out of all of them.
- On the Active web page, we will open a small (anonimus) forum where anyone can write their favourite childhood memories. We want to gather the moments that everyone keeps in theor heart, as reminders of childhood.
- During the week, we will open an online petition – where we ask for non- formal education activities in EU to be carried out in alcohol-free environments. Join us by signing in !
- On 14th of February, we will issue a Press Release. Active , its partners and its member organizations will be sharing joint statements on the ocassion and calling on solidarity, inclusion and more rights.
- Change your email signature during the week: It’s Children of Alcoholics Week (8-14th of February 2015) Raise the awareness about 9 million Children of Alcoholics in EU
